  1. Personally I think that having a 100% safe and 100% fun Halloween can be possible. For now the rules are that you can only go with your family members and have to keep a 2 meter distance from everyone away. Really the only thing I would ask to add would be the ability to go with your friends because kids already see each other at school. So as long as a mask is worn and 2 meters is kept it should be all good. This would make a great Halloween!

    1. I thought your blog was really well written! But I don't think that people will really follow these rules, especially teenagers, so Halloween won't be as safe as we want!

    2. Personally I think that having 100% safe and 100% fun Halloween is by staying home and not go out at all. It's definitely fun going trick or treating BUT it's better to stay at home and hang out with your family and friends :)

  2. Although it makes me sad, I think halloween shoud be cancelled because 1. we're in code red and 2. it's very risky and surely will cause more covid cases from spreading. Also, when you take candy from a stranger, you don't know if they have covid or not. I think the best thing to do is just stay home, get some popcorn ant binge scary movies alone or with your family !

    1. I totally agree with you're blog, u could 100% find other fun things to do this halloween like watching scary movies with family!

    2. I definetly agree with you, and I love the idea of watching scary movies, with these times, it's just the safets option.

    3. I 100% agree with your points, its a lot better to be able to not continue the spread of this annoying virus!

  3. I personally think if sports are cancelled, restaurants are closed, and you're not aloud to see anyone but you're immediate family than halloween shouldn't be a priority right now.Its really unfortunate but I feel like we should focus on just getting cases low and halloween wouldn't help us with that.Either way I think there's many different things and ways we can still find the positive in this amazing holiday and still have some fun with it!

    1. there's definitely many things to keep ourselves entertained during halloween too. but even though it should be cancelled, we still celebrate halloween at school,, where we can still dress up and have fun!

    2. I agree with your blog if all those things are cancelled than Halloween should too. I think you made a really good point on how we should lower the cases.

    3. You are completely right. If all extra curricular activities and gatherings are prohibited than Halloween should be too. Covid-19 will be over faster if we respect social distancing and the other rules enforced.

  4. Due to covid, holidays and get-togethers with family and friends, such as thanksgiving and easter and such, have been cancelled to go visit family and have get-togethers for dinners, because they are trying to protect/prevent the spread of the virus, so I think what is best to do is still cancel Halloween even though we want to, because it is what’s best, especially now we are in a code red for Covid-19. And to me I wouldn’t think it’d be safe anyways due to the fact you would just be taking candy from strangers, random people you don’t even know if they have covid or not. So I think staying home is the best thing to do right now, to stay safe and healthy and to protect others as well.

  5. As much as I hate saying this, I think that Halloween should be cancelled. We're in code red right now. If we were lower than 700 cases, Halloween MIGHT not be cancelled but we're in code red right now. so yes, Halloween is cancelled. A way to have a safe and fun halloween while still following the guidelines of covid-19 is buy halloween candy, snacks, chips, snuggle up and stay inside (maybe watch a few horror movies ;)

    2. I definitely agree with you. Staying in and watching movies is the best thing for right now. Great blog!

  6. Although Halloween is super fun, I do think that It should be cancelled. I completely understand that kids love it but its not worth the risk of getting covid. I don't understand why it got cancelled last year because of rain but this year when a deadly virus is going around they are telling you that you can go. I don't think that the rules that are being put in place are going to work. Especially the one about social distancing with the candy. Some people are putting the candy in bags but its not like that is going to help they are still touching it. I would just go and buy candy for myself this way you can actually pick out the candy you like and you don't have to walk for it.

  7. Halloween is one of my favourite holidays. I love getting candy and I love the spooky season. Since Covid-19 is happening right now, taking candy from someone's house doesn't seem like the best idea. I personally don't think I'll be going out this year, but I might change my mind. Everyone who is going out is taking a risk, but I don't think it should be cancelled if people do want to go out. I think if we just try our best to stay safe and maybe clean any of the wrappers or the bags that the candy is in then we could have a great Halloween.

  8. Honestly as awesome as halloween sounds, I feel like during Covid-19, this is a terrible idea... It's like saying "oh at school you can't see your friends from other classes because cross contamination, but you CAN go out into possibly crowded streets and get Covid-19" It makes no sense really....

    TL;DR
Halloween is cool and all, but 2020 is NOT the time

  9. Honestly, with the way things are going right now, I don't think Halloween should happen. The numbers just keep going up and up. People will obviously want to get together and might not even wear mask. If the government actually lets Halloween, we can assume that the number of cases might sky rocket. Trick or Treating should be 100 percent cancelled because how are you supposed to give people candy. You can't wear gloves. If you have Covid you might just have Covid on your gloves and still put it on the candy. So Halloween should be canceled. It's sad but must be done(unless you want more people to die).

  10. I feel like this year is honestly so crazy with the pandemic, so I don’t know that Halloween is a very safe option right now. On one side, I think that Halloween should just be cancelled all together because we are in code red right now and Halloween is the last thing that we should be preparing for, mainly because people are giving out candy, and you don’t know where that candy has been. However, I feel that cancelling Halloween will just make us feel much worse because we’re trying to get back to our old lifestyles, so in cancelling Halloween, we're just taking one step back to getting back to that normal. Also, if we all wear masks and social distance, we could potentially go trick or treating. At this point, I think that we have to get back to some type of normal while being safe, but Halloween is just a question of how to be safe while having fun.

  11. I think Halloween is fine. It was never a super close contact thing anyways. From what I know, you aren't supposed to lick the candy before you give it out or anything. I think as long as you're wearing a mask and are staying a safe distance away from the person at the door you should be fine. Maybe we can take extra precautions to be safer but I don't see why it's such a big deal. So as long as you're staying safe and staying with your family, Halloween should be fine.

    1. I think your point about Halloween should go on is correct and as long as every one is following the rules it should be fine.

  12. I personally think that this year, Halloween should be cancelled. If we're in code red, it's because there have been lots of cases and spreading of the virus, and we should just stay inside. Especially with the big groups of people and the crowds that we sometimes see on the streets when we go trick or treating, it's probably better to just stay home and watch a scary movie with Halloween snacks rather than possibly getting caught in one of these crowds.

    1. I agree, if we have code red it would be much safer to stay inside

  13. I think we should not do Halloween this year, since it would be dangerous and there would be no safe way to sanitize the candy without getting soap on the candy itself. Especially since we almost cancelled Halloween last year for raining we should probably not have Halloween during a global pandemic. I think the best way to have a good Halloween would be to go and get like a tone of candy and eat it all as if you just came back from trick or treating

  14. I seriously think that not doing Halloween this year is the best idea. There are a lot of people that are going to get hurt because of the fact that people are going to be going out. If one person is sick, answers the door, gives candy to a 5 year old, who then visits 20 houses, then 20 other kids visit those other houses, they each go to 20 other houses, and all of a sudden everyone is sick. Yes it sucks that this holiday is probably going to be cancelled, but would you rather have 1 good Halloween or 20 good ones, it makes more sense to be able to not put yourself at risk of dying just because you want candy that is going to be 50% off the next day at Walmart. i personally am going to be watching horror movies while on discord call with my friends, because I still want to hangout with them even though we have to do it over Netflix party.

  15. Personally I think that going out for Halloween is not the best choice. Going out for Halloween is supposed to be a happy thing and not something to be stressed about. Since Halloween this year will happen during COVID-19 times many people will be stressed and not enjoy Halloween like they used to. I don’t really care if I go out for Halloween or not if I do I will probably do nothing and if I don’t I’ll probably watch a movie or something. Halloween is about having fun and if kids and parents are not going to have fun since they don’t feel safe then I guess it’s really your choice if you want to go out or not. Those who go out can go out at their own risk and those who don’t will be taking the safe route.

  17. In my opinion this years Halloween during a pandemic isn't a real Halloween. For me a part of Halloween is knocking on peoples doors and asking them for candy, but this year it's only going to be grabbing candy from a bowl. Although I have such opinion's I don't believe that Halloween should be cancelled, for many children especially where I live this could be there first Halloween or first holiday in a very long period of time and I think as long as these children have fun and are safe, being two meters apart and wearing mask's it's fine with me. I also think that there should be police officers outside while children are trick or treating to make sure there following the rules but that's just my opinion.

  18. As much as I love halloween, this year I don’t think it should be a priority. Given the fact that sports, restaurants, and social gatherings are either closed or prohibited trick or treating should be too.
You can still have a safe and fun halloween at home by watching movies and eating candy. This way there are no unnecessary gatherings and close contact. You could always just FaceTime your friends and still have a great time.

  19. I think that this year Halloween should happen because it all matters if people are being smart with their choices and that they are taking the right precautions. I think that people after they get the candy leave it on the table or wherever until the covid virus on the candy if there is one is dead. I also think that people should wear gloves when they give out the candy and everyone should wear a mask.

  20. This year I feel as if that halloween should still go on but much diffrently like everyone should have gloves on including kids and everyone must have masks but also even with all these precautions im not sure that it is still safe to go our getting candy coming from other people's houses espicially here in montreal considering we are one of the epicenters for covid in canada, Its ironic how last year they wanted to cancel halloween because of the rain but this year they dont want to even though there is a deadly virus going around. I wouldnt cancel trick or treating but I would definatly add many precautions.

  21. Honestly, I think that halloween during Covid is completely possible as long as protocols/procedures are put in place. I feel like our community has been through a lot these past months, and we should at least be able to celebrate halloween. I have seen many ideas online (mostly on pinterest) on how to safely pass out candy. Some my favorite ideas that I found were to have baskets attached to 6 feet long poles, and also, have tubes that go from either your front door or somewhere else, to a place where kids can pick up their candy.

  22. I think it is possible to have a safe and fun Halloween if we all follow the rules. If we all go with only are families and keep social distance. There are many ideas that people have to handout candy safely. But if you can even just leave the candy in a bowl and kids can take it them self. I don't think that Halloween to be cancelled for everyone to be safe.

  23. I honestly don’t think that halloween should happen at all this year. It’s not safe for the people getting candy, nor the people handing it out. For all you know, the person who just gave you candy could have covid and you wouldn't even know. Maybe this year everyone can stay home with their families and watch halloween movies.

  24. I think halloween in a crona red zone is not the smartest especially if u are incontact with people who are more at risk although if u you still wanna go out and trick or treat u should make sure to talk to proper precautions. I don't believe halloween should be canceled just make sure to be extra safe.
