The Ubisoft building downtown was evacuated at the end of last week.
A prankster called in a bomb. Apparently there were also hostages.
Thankfully, no one was injured.
What consequences should this prankster receive?
When does a prank go too far?
Explain.

Personally I don't think using a bomb is a prank but rather an excuse. There is a certain extent to pranks and he definitely crossed the line. He committed a crime, a prank does not involve keeping people hostage and does not need to have people evacuated due to it. I think he should go to prison for the things he has done. A prank is meant to quickly scare someone then make them laugh, not make them run with fear. Once you are mocking them or making them terrified it is time to stop and take it into consideration that you’re not funny.
ReplyDeleteI agree that situation crossed the line. I also agree about the fact that pranks should not make you run with fear.
DeleteI agree that a prank doesn't involve hostages.
DeleteThis "Prank" was to far I understand it was a Friday the 13th prank it dosen't matter. Pranks are meant to be for fun and create laughter not to create hostages or fear of death. My friend's mom works at Ubisoft and was one of the people hiding under the desks, she was scared for her life which means the prank has gone way to far. I personally think whoever did this should definitely face some kind of punishment considering they could of created a lot of new mental illnesses for the people hiding under the tables, stress for their loved ones and all for attention. I find it such a horrible act and not at all ethical.
ReplyDeleteI really agree with the punishment that this person should recive. Good blog!
DeleteThe person that called in the false threat should go to jail. What they did was not a joke or a prank. You cant use that excuse because it ins't a prank. People could have gotten hurt or worse. This person probably scared the people so badly. A prank is meat to be a joke to laugh about it or pull a little trick on someone. Pranks are not meant to hurt people or put a sense of panic. What that person did was not a joke nor funny. People actually thought it was real.
ReplyDeleteI agree. They should go to jail. Good blog
DeleteI heard this story too and I think the person might have done it because of the new assassins creed game that came out. Which has a completely different style than the other games . I understand that maybe they wanted to prank them to go back at them for making a “bad game” but really they took it way too far. Like it’s just a game and there are plenty of new other games that came out recently too . I think that jail would be the most reasonable punishment , because you shouldn’t be faking bomb attacks like that and call it a prank.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the points stated in this blog! Great job!
Deletethey definitely took it too seriously and way too far. they need to understand the consequences they can receive from their actions. good blog :))
DeleteI agree with most of your points, but if all they do is send them to jail, some people might do the same thing. Personally, I would punish this guy really badly. Just because we could make an example out of the person and to stop other people from following in his footsteps.
DeleteI actually heard of this story when I was coming home from school. I find it absolutely disgusting that someone would have the audacity to pretend that this kind of thing was a prank. People were scared for their lives in that building, in fact there are actually people who lose their lives to bombs every day, and this person pretends it's a joke!? A prank is very simple, it is okay as long as you are not hurting the person you are pranking, physically or mentally, and this person has crossed the line. For his punishment, he should receive: 5 years of jail time no bail, and pay the amount of money required for therapy for the people who may have been traumatized by the incident
ReplyDeleteI so agree because this person crossed the line and defiantly created some mental illnesses to the people hiding in bombs and cant believe they made bombs a joke your right it is disgusting. Very nicely said.
DeleteBomb threat pranks are never cool. They are dangerous and can end up in a lot of mental trauma for some. It can be traumatizing, as you might not know it's fake. You could be panicking, which isn't good for you mentally. I think the person should be punished with jail time of some sort, but nothing too serious. It's seriously crossing the line however, and I do believe the perpetrator should be punished.
ReplyDeleteI thought you made some great points! I l agreed with you when you said that the prank can cause mental trauma for some!
DeleteThat person who held those people hostage, and called in a so-called “prank” should deserve a punishment as in going to prison for what he has done because he is responsible for his actions. And pranks aren’t supposed to be used for that, it’s supposed to be to make others laugh and pull little tricks on others. They aren't supposed to make people feel scared for their life, that prank went too far. He committed a crime so now he has to serve his time, for holding people hostage.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you people who do these thing should go to prison to pay for what he has done. Pranks aren't supposed to make people feel scared for their lives. Impressive blog :))
DeleteExactly, sometimes people don't think about the consequences and negative impacts their actions have on others.
DeleteA prank goes too far when someone gets hurt physically and mentally. If someone starts crying or reacted angrily, that's when you know you crossed a line. To called in a bomb at a building, and saying there were hostages, that's low. Whoever did this should pay 5,000$ -10,000$ for the horrible prank, in my opinion this should not have been a prank and tricking an entire building with people.
ReplyDeleteI agree it should not be called a prank especially when it is not funny. Good blog!
DeleteI agree, and if your going to prank a whole building don;t do something scary just clogg the toilet or something.
DeleteI think that the person who called that into the police should go to jail and get a physiological evaluation done. No one mentally stable would do something like that. I think the person who called it in should also have to pay a nice sum of money to everyone who was hurt or affected by the prank. You can't make some people think that their life could be on the line then just say, "It'S jUsT a PrAnK". Life doesn't work like that. You do something, there are consequences, and that person could have just some innocent people their lives if something had gone sideways.
ReplyDeleteYou might be right that this "prankster" may have something wrong with him mentally because no one would make people make them feel that there in danger in less there's something wrong with thom.
DeleteI definitely think that this prankster should receive major consequences. I’m all for a fun prank but this guy just went way too far. Also, involving hostages is completely useless and wrong. This prankster should go to jail for a long time for two reasons. First, he kept hostages which is very dangerous and second he reported a fake bomb and that’s not something to joke about.
ReplyDeleteI think that the prankster deserves to go to jail and there is major consequences . They took it way to far. Calling for a real bomb, that's not a prank anymore. It's dangerous and I think that pranks are stuff that you can laugh about after, but this is definitely not the case. I hope this prankster gets what they deserves.
ReplyDeleteYeah, bomb threats aren't pranks.
DeleteThe "Prankster" should probably receive a big fine or even a little bit of jail time for calling a bomb threat to people who have done nothing wrong but create video games that some people don't neccesarily like. It isn't a prank if people think their lives are going to be taken and nothing is done about it. If I where to hold a knife to someones throat, then exclaim its a prank when police arrive, I would be arrested.
ReplyDeleteI completly agree that calling a bomb on innocent poeple is extremely worng. Great blog!
DeleteThis prank went way to far. I think the prankster should get a huge fine and definitely jail time. He scared many people and lied. I don't think you can call this a prank because pranks are supposed to be funny and not terrifying and not go to the extent of evacuating a building and calling the police. This prank is inappropriate because it made some of the people in that building think they were going to die. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have been in that building and here that there was a bomb threat and then later find out it was a prank that someone thought was funny.
ReplyDeleteI think this prank went way to far even if it was a prank especially for such a huge company for gaming like Ubisoft and depending on how many "pranks" this prankster has committed should either be warned and fined but if he's done it more then once the he should go to jail for 1-2 months. When the prank becomes less of a joke and starts hurting the person who your pranking and doesn't want you to be pranked anymore then a prank goes too far and you should stop pranking.
ReplyDeleteThey obviously should and deserve jail time. A bomb isn’t a little matter and definitely not something to joke about. Thousands of people have lost their lives to bombing situations so it’s definitely no joking matter. Whoever called it in is immautre, self centred, and clearly has the intelligence of a peanut. A prank is suppose to be harmless and funny but it’s gone too far if people’s lives are being put at steak. I bet that person would feel different if someone called in a fake bomb and their family was involved.
ReplyDeleteI think that this prank went a little too far. When you call a bombing a prank I think there must be something wrong in that person's head. I think that the proper punishment for a person like this is to spend some time in a rehab center to fix whatever is going on in that person's life. I think that this prank went way too far and I think pranks in general go too far when they start actually endangering someone’s life or could possibly injure them in a serious way.
ReplyDeleteI also think this went too far! Great blog :)
DeleteI think this person shouldn’t go to jail because they didn’t hurt anyone or try to, but i think they should still be punished. Maybe with a fine or community service because what he did was not cool, but on the other hand people do much worse every day. I think a prank goes too far when people start getting scared or angry because pranks are supposed to be funny.
ReplyDeleteI think that is the worst prank. I literally hate pranks with a passion, but if someone likes doing them, I wont stop it, but this is too far. The person who pulled the prank should for sure be going to jail. Bombs are not a joke. The people in that building could have been seriously injured!!
