Last night, at a baseball game in Los Angeles, there was an entire section of:
VACCINATED FANS
The fans were permitted to:
- SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION (1 or 2 doses)
- NOT WEAR MASKS
- NOT SOCIAL DISTANCE
Was this a good/bad decision?
Are we ready to gather in large crowds to see concerts, sports events or other?
Explain.
I think this was a really bad decision because even with the vaccine you can still carry it and spread it to your family and friends. At the Baseball stadium there was enough space for everyone to social distance and they should all be wearing masks in the first place because this pandemic is not over. I don’t see why they didn’t do that. I don’t think we are ready to gather in large crowds to see concerts, sports events, etc. But I think if we were to do what Australia did we could be able to do and have fun events.

DeleteI think what a lot of people dont realize, is that the vaccine does not clear you of COVID-19. You can still carry the virus, you just have a very low chance of getting sick from it. So imagine going to a game, and someone vaccinated picked up the virus and transmitted it to you. You probably won't get sick, but anyone you live with or are around a lot who haven't been vaccinated will. I just don't think it's a very good idea. I think everyone should be vaccinated before we do stuff like that.

DeleteI agree they should wait for everyone to get the vaccine and learn a bit more about the vaccine before they start these events.
DeleteI don't think this decision was the right one to make. I get people are trying to get back to their normal lifestyle but we can't rush things or else we will eventually have to live with covid. I don't think we are ready to have concerts and open public gatherings yet in the bigger countries. I do get that there are some smaller populated countries, that have almost no more covid and I think it wouldn't be as much as a bad idea for them to open up things, but as long as they can take the covid precautions serious, I think it should be fine. Right now I don't think Canada and America, especially are ready to plan these big events with gatherings.

DeleteSo here's the thing, vaccinations do not make it a 100% possibility that you won't get the virus, it just helps prevent it. In florida, they have had fans at a few events such as the super bowl, wrestlemania and probably some other things, but all of the fans were wearing masks, even if they were vaccinated, and they also had to social distance. So when you think of it, if even one person got covid in that section, the entire section would be comprimised. So in my opinion, it was a very bad idea, but you can't do a lot about it because it's done now.

DeleteI think it was a really bad idea because although everyone is vaccinated when they all go home theyre going to be in contact with other people that most likely won't be vaccinated like they are. And being in contact with strangers with any protection (masks, distance, etc) and hanging out with other people is a TERRIBLE idea during a pandemic. I really miss concerts, sports and traveling and I really hope that it'l' get better by summer at least so we can al have a fun summer after this crappy year.

DeleteI think it was too much of a risky decision.Making sure everyone was vaccinated was good but masks and social distancing should've still been permitted.Vaccines aren't 100% prevention theres always chances and anyone can carry the virus to spread to others so we shouldn't take the chance.I think we are going into having huge gatherings like concerts and sports events too fast because this can risk everything getting bad again if we start acting too soon.For now i think if you're vaccinated you should feel a little more safe to be around a few people but definitely not going back to everything being fine.

DeleteI don’t think it was a good decision on both sides. Despite how much these people wanted to go to this baseball game, they should’ve been any least the slightest bit weary of sitting so close to other people along with no masks, even if they were vaccinated. I also don’t think whoever was in charge of seating should’ve allowed this. I don’t think we are ready yet to gather in large crowds yet. I don’t know about others but I haven’t been exposed to large crowds very often this year, so we really have no idea how the immune system would react in such situations with no masks, especially with the pandemic still happening.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good idea to social distance regardless if you have the vaccine or not. The vaccine isn't going to stop you form getting it. If one of the people there got it and didn't know they could be spreading it to hundreds of other people. I think even if you get the vaccine you should still wear a mask and social distance to keep others safe just in case. I don't think we are completely ready to start having large crowds especially since the Covid cases are really high now. I think we should start with tiny crowds that do social distance and wear a mask and maybe add more people from there.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a very dumb, bad decision that was made. Just because you got vaccinated doesn't mean you still can't catch, carry and even spread the virus. People shouldn't be having these big gatherings, especially without masks and not being socially distanced. We are still in this pandemic and we've come this far so we should respect the rules more then ever so we can put this virus behind us.

DeleteThis was for sure a terrible decision to proceed with, especially during the pandemic. Even if you had really wanted to see the game, doesn't mean that everyone who DID get the vaccine, 1 or 2 doses, doesn't mean that COVID-19 is gone, because clearly we're still in a pandemic whether we like it or not. I am pretty sure that we should not start going back and opening concerts and sports events and etc, they aren't even as important to go to as well, especially if these people don't even need to wear masks or social distance, doesn't mean that it's the cure for it and it'll go away meaning they won't get it. Everyone's immune systems react differently so the vaccine just gives less of a chance of really catching it too.

DeleteThis is a pretty bad decision. Just because you are vaccinated does not mean you can just go back the your life before the pandemic. If you are vaccinated, you can still get the virus, but it won't really affect you. However, you can still spread it to other people, who probably don't have the vaccine. We are not ready to get together just yet. The virus is still lurking, and now it's not the right time to relax. We need to stay vigilant.
ReplyDeleteThe textbook definition of a vaccine is a weakened version of the virus. Your body can fight against the virus, so your immune system gets stronger, hence why the vaccine is effective. If you still have the virus in your body, you should be at home, taking a rest for 14 days. People should be staying home, taking a rest or doing their jobs and taking care of their loved ones instead of going to a baseball game. I find it stupid that they're not even making an effort to protect their loved ones and protect themselves. You could have AT LEAST social distance and/or wear a mask; it's not that hard.

DeleteI don't this was a good idea because you cans still transmit the virus because they don't ask if your family members have it. I mean yes in some way in a good "incentive" to give to people that if they get vaccinated they can do that but it's also too early. We should honestly just still wait a few months let more and more vaccines load in before we start making major changes like that.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion this was an awful idea. I'm sure the person who came up with it was probably praised for being some sort of genius but in reality this was still very dangerous. The vaccine doesn't necessarily stop you from contracting the virus. They shouldn't even have people in the stadium at all it really doesn't make sense to take the risk. Not having a crowd for a couple of sports games and concerts is not the end of the world and people can live without going. You can literally watch the game on the tv and even though I do understand that the atmosphere is obviously much different in person there is no need to take unnecessary risks that can lead to another outbreak.

DeleteI think that was a bad decision because everyone who only got one of the doses can still get COVID and still pass it to the other people who only got one dose. Then they are going to see other people and maybe they didn’t get any shot so then that person is going to get the full COVIDness. I think that they should wait for at least most of the population to get the vaccine before they start letting people mingle.
ReplyDeleteI think that doing this was a very bad decision. The reason is because even if you are vaccinated you can still be a carrier of the virus. If you pass the virus to someone else who doesn’t have the immune system to fight it you can possibly kill them. I don’t think we are ready to gather in large crowds or big events because the virus is still here and you can still become fatally ill if you catch it. I think that even if you are vaccinated or have caught the virus and produced antibodies you should still social distance and wear masks.

DeleteI think that this was not a good decision. I believe this because it said that they had to show that they were vaccinated with most likely some sort of card, and we all know that no one wants to stay in a pandemic very any longer, well unless you're weird, so they easily could have forged that. We are not ready to gather in large crowds, although many people are already vaccinated with different kinds of Covid-19 vaccines that still doesn't mean that a large percent of the population have not been vaccinated so by not wearing your mask you're putting in danger all the people around you. And that just means will have to wait a little bit longer for the pandemic to end.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a very bad decision. People think that the vaccines can just magically make it go away. I agree that they could help a lot and everyone should be getting them, but at the moment not everyone has gotten the vaccine at the moment. My grandparents got the vaccine, but i'm not going to be at their house all over them. It's just not safe. LA is also one of the worse spots right now. It's overall a bad idea.

ReplyDeletepersonally although yes they did all get their vaccines I think it is a really bad idea for the baseball teams or any sport or event to have these “ exceptions” from my understanding the vaccine doesn't stop the spread it lessons symptoms so you can still be a carrier for it and someone who hasn't gotten their vaccine can get very sick. This past year I haven't honestly missed big crowds or concerts that much and I feel once everything goes back to normal it would feel weird to go somewhere in a big crowd with no masks. But yes I'm excited For large gatherings hopefully soon.
I think this was a bad idea. Yes they are vaccinated, but the vaccines are still new and I don't think we have done enough studies on them if they work well enough for gatherings with no social distancing and no masks. If the people only got their vaccines a few days ago, they probably haven't had enough time to be fully in the body and work, so there could be a spread of the virus. I don't think we are ready for gatherings with the no social distancing yet, even with vaccines. They are still trying them out and don't have all the answers, so it's better if there are still masks and social distancing for now.
