Blog 23 - Monday, May 10, 2021
It was announced last week that STUDENTS aged 12-18 will be vaccinated by end of summer 2021.
Hopefully, this will lead to a more NORMAL school year.
However, there are MANY teens with vaccine-hesitant parents.
Parents DO have the right to refuse the vaccine for their children!
How should this situation be handled?
If schools were to return to normal, does everyone need to be vaccinated?
Have you discussed the vaccine with your family?
What are their thoughts? What are your thoughts?
Explain.
My parents want me to get the vaccine, they personally think it's fine. I was the one a little worried about the vaccine at first because I was just worried they haven't spent enough time developing it but I don't really worry about that anymore with many more people getting it I think I learned to accept it. I don't think if schools become normal again everyone needs the vaccine but the ones without the vaccine should wear masks if they want because the others can't get covid but I don't think it's the best idea but I think that's whats going to happen in the future. I hope I can get my vaccine soon because I do want life to go back to normal and I want to be able to hangout with certain friends again. I would want to read more on the different kinds of vaccines before I get mine.
ReplyDeletei agree, usually, they take a few years to develop a vaccine, great blog!!
DeleteI too want my life to get back to normal so I can enjoy my teenage years.
Deleteif i were to have the option to get the vaccine right this moment, i would most likely say no because pfizer just got aprooved for kids, so i feel i would want to see the results on other kids first. but if the results are good, i will definetly be open to getting it when i have the chance. however, a vvaccine does not completly elimintae the chance of getting covid, so i don't think that it would be safe to put kids back in school completly normally like how it was last year because i think that we would still need some time. i do really want school to go back to norml because we're missing out on our whole high school experience, but i don't see that happening any time soon.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really smart approach, Nice blog!
DeleteIf I had to chance to get the vaccine immediately I would. My parents and I have discussed the vaccine situation and we think its just the best to get the vaccine. I think that if schools would go back to normal it would make sense that everyone that goes to that school would be vaccinated and those who aren't I guess would follow some sort of homeschool program while the pandemic is still there. Or the most realistic approach would just to continue with what they did this year and gradually lower things.
ReplyDeleteThats a good solution to make those who don't get the vaccine have to stay home and do school from there.
DeleteIt's good that you're getting vaccinated. Good blog.
DeleteThat's a really good idea. Great blog!
DeleteYes, I would say that everyone should be vaccinated if we want to return to a normal school schedule. My parents already have the vaccine and I don’t really have anything against getting it either but I just don’t want to get the possible symptoms that come with getting the vaccine. I don’t think my parent would force me into getting it but my mom has lung diseases that put her at greater risk if she does get covid so I would probably get it to keep her safe. I’ll probably wait a bit until more students get it before I make a final decision.
ReplyDeleteI think waiting for some students to get the vaccine is the best decision and sorry to hear about your mom.
DeleteMy parents are both getting the vaccine. I'm sure I'm going to get it too although I would wait a little while longer to get it. I would let other kids/students get it before I do. Even if everyone gets vaccinated I still think we all need to social distance because the vaccine does not stop you getting the virus. It only stops it from making it really bad. If people don't want to give there kids the vaccine it's fine because you want force people to do things they don't want to do.
ReplyDeleteI agree, even if everyone is vaccinated doesn't mean the virus is gone, great blog.
DeleteMy parents both got their first dose, and I'm glad they let me get vaccines, in fact, their very pro vaccine. Everyone should be vaccinated, because it prevents people from getting really sick from the virus. We might have to get a vaccine for it every year, like the flu, but thats fine with me. People who are anti-vax scare me, because their putting themselves and others in danger just because of their own beliefs. I can't wait to be vaccinated.
ReplyDeleteVaccines do prevent people from getting sick with the virus. Great blog!
DeleteMan, why are anti-vax people a thing. It's like the whole world tells you to get vaccinated, and one person tells you not too and you follow that one person. Nice blog!
DeletePersonally, I think that everyone should get vaccinated and I have no idea why anyone wouldn't want to, it doesn't make sense to me. But whoever wants to get the vaccine should be able to, and that includes teenagers. My parents and I both agree that as soon as I can get the vaccine, I will. Both of them got their first doses and have always agreed and gotten me my vaccines. I think that if schools go back to normal everyone should be vaccinated, because it'll make everyone feel a lot more safe and you will have a less chance and spreading or catching the virus.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think everyone should be vaccinated too, great blog!
DeleteHonestly, everyone should be vaccinated, unless there is a problem that prevents you from getting vaccinated (like immuno-comprimization), IT IS ABSOLUTELY AND UTTERLY stupid to not get vaccinated. You're protecting the people who CAN'T get vaccinated and are also helping stop the spread of covid. I am definitely going to get the vaccine, and so are my parents, since it will make everyone more safe.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think everyone should be vaccinated. My mom wants me to get the vaccine as soon as possible, which I'm a little bit hesitant about, because I don't really know much about the vaccine, but my mom got her first vaccine and is getting her second one this weekend and she's fine, so that makes me feel better. I think if they want the schools to be back to normal, they must have everyone vaccinated. It only makes sense to keep everyone safe by having them vaccinated.
ReplyDeleteyea i'd be a bit hesitant too since there isn't much info about this vaccine especially for kids/teens but if its to keep everyone safe then that's okay, good blog!!
DeleteI think that teens over the age 14 should be able to decide whether they want to get the vaccine or not. I think it would definitely be best if students could all get the vaccine before the next school year starts. I have discussed the vaccine with my parents a lot. They have appointments in the next 2-3 weeks to get their vaccine and they say that my brother and I will get ours once more kids our age are getting it. I think the vaccine is a really positive thing and we all need to be very thankful to the pharmaceutical companies who have come up with these vaccines in such short time. We also need to protect ourselves and others and so far the vaccines that are out are our best option for the moment.
ReplyDeleteI am happy that they will be vaccinating everyone. I am definitely going to get it. I think that people over the age of 14 should get to choose if they want the vaccine. If the majority of the students are vaccinated next year, I think we should go back to normal and the anti-vaccine can come but they can continue to were masks and wash there hands a lot.
ReplyDeleteYa we should be old enough to decide if we want the vaccine or not, great blog
DeleteI think that at this point the government has the right to force parents to let their kids get the vaccine because we have been in a pandemic for so long now and this is our way to get things back to normal. And when you think about it is kinda selfish. The vaccine will benefit the kid and the people around them. I think that it would be best if every kid got vaccinated because then people wouldn’t have to worry about the virus popping up again and starting an outbreak. I haven't really discussed the vaccine with my parents but I think that all the fuss about if you should get the vaccine or not is stupid, because it’s just a needle people get vaccinated for things all the time. And so what if you get some side effects, maybe you'll have them for a couple days and then they'll go away.
ReplyDeleteYour point of view is very interesting and different. I think that it is great to have people who have unique thoughts and are willing to tell them no matter what others will say. Great blog!
Deletei feel like overall, everyone should get vaccinated even kids. both of my parents already got their first dose and had already scheduled their second for in June. they would let me get the vaccine only once there are many more kids who get it before me but have already agreed for me to get it. i think if schools were to return normal, in this case, the vaccination should be mandatory for everyone because then it will make everybody in school feel more safe cause of the mandatory vaccine. and it will even bring less of a chance of spreading or catching Covid as well.
ReplyDeleteYa if school goes back to normal then vaccinations should be mandatory then it will make everybody feel more safe.
DeleteI honestly think that a kid has all the right to get a vaccine. It will save their life. Like what if there's an even more deadly disease that Covid, but there's a vaccine. Instead, you have a moronic anti vaccer Karen who thinks that the vaccine will implant a microchip in you. Like come on, do you want to die or get vaccinated so you can live? If school did return to normal, EVERYONE should be vaccinated. That way we don't really have to worry about it anymore. It's possible you can still catch the virus, but it won't really affect you or other people with the vaccine. My parents are all for getting vaccinated. We all just want to get this virus over with and we want to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Once we can get the vaccine, we will get it without missing a beat. I too, just want to get vaccinated. I have had enough of this virus and just want it to end.
ReplyDeleteI don't get the antivaxers' perspective, like the government litterally gives you the information you try and hide from the government, and the stuff that isn't given by the government is probably run by a company THAT GIVES THE INFORMATION TO THE GOVERNMENT, so whats the point of worrying about a microchip that steals information.
DeleteIf these parents don't want their children to be vaccinated then they just won't be able to do activities like other people, sure if they go outside without a mask on there's no way telling if they've got vaccinated but if they do an activity that requires registration they they should have to bring proof that they were vaccinated if not then they can't do it. If schools do return to normal then yes, students should have to be vaccinated, even though a lot of children are asymptomatic some children aren't so that's at risk for them. We really don't discuss that much about vaccination because there's nothing to discuss about all my family members are going to get vaccinated sooner or later, my dad has already been vaccinated.
ReplyDeleteMy mother is fine with me getting the vaccine but my father is pretty against all this Covid stuff. He thinks that you should just heal naturally and not with help from a vaccine that has barely been tested. I personally don’t really care what he thinks. I kinda want the vaccine since I experienced first hand what the virus can do to you. I got pretty sick and I wouldn't want that to happen again. The only problem that would influence my decision to get this vaccine is that the vaccine hasn’t been tested on many kids and normally a vaccine takes years to develop and this one has been developed over a year or so. I don’t think everyone would need to be vaccinated to go to school if everything returns to normal since there will be people who would just not want to get it.
ReplyDeleteMy mom says I should definitly get the vaccine when possible. I think that the situation of people not vaccinating their children should be resolved by just making them keep a mask and all the proceedures for covid, since kids kind of need school and we shouldn't take it away from them because their parents refuse to vaccinate them. I think the vaccine is super important and people should definitly try to get it as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that we will be able to get vaccinated soon so that we can hopefully go back to normal as soon as possible I have discussed the vaccine with my parents both of my parents are vaccinated and they plan on getting me and my sisters vaccinated they will leaveGot it will be and is an effective way to help stop the spread of covid. I think it's a tricky thing with the whole non-vaccinated people thing we can't Force anyone to get the vaccine so we should encourage everyone to get the vaccine which most people will and for the people who will not it's on them they're the ones that are going to be exposed Hit harder by the virus at least that's what I think. but I just hope the most people possible can get the vaccine as soon as possible
ReplyDeleteEveryone should be vaccinated, i'm sure you all of have your doubts and worries but after seeing everyone vaccinated, i'm sure all of your concerns will be melted away. I've discussed the vaccines with my parents before and they said that i'll be the last one to be vaccinated in my family because i have the weakest immune system between me and my brother. My thoughts on the vaccines is that I think the vaccines are pretty okay, i mean they've vaccinated so many people already so i should be fine right?
ReplyDeleteI agree that everyone should be vaccinated. Great job on your blog!
DeleteI think that kids without the vaccine will just not be able to do all of the same things that kids with vaccines will (there will be benefits for them). Also, I think if schools were to return to normal, every kid would have to be vaccinated. My family has briefly discussed the vaccine. My dad has already gotten it and my siblings and I are getting it too. I think it’s good that we will finally have the vaccine for things to start getting back to normal.
